So, I've been thinking. Firstly, that I should STOP thinking, because it always means more work for me. Secondly that I should really do some Comic Reviews. I could write them up, score them, and link them in their post on the comic's site using a button.
The question is, where should I go about this?
First Idea Do them on here. Pros - It's on my own site and I can link right to the post. - It brings more traffic to this site, and raises it's profile a little. - Folks can comment on my Reviews in the same thread indefinably. - I could get others to write reviews of comic's on here and link to those so it's just not me writing the reviews.
Cons - Professionalism. It's sorta lame to read a review written on a Form. - Layout. This Forum is kinda cheap and Dinky. I plan to fix it up a little, but there is only so much I can do to make it feel classy. - This Forum is quite restrictive, and kinda not user friendly, so there is that to consider as well.
Second Idea Do it in the Comments section on the Post Pros - It's right there on the Page. - Linking the post gets the review, and vice versa, making it user friendly. - More community friendly and kinda nice.
Cons - It wont appear unless you click to read the Comments. - Comment boxes are limited in the amount of Text they can display, and not really the best format to read something if it becomes a long winded review. - Hard to find if you dont know the review is in the commets box, ie you are following a link from another site.
Third Idea Third Party Site. Pros - More circulation means it's more likely to get read.
Cons - Can be sometimes hard to link to, and I have no control over it, especially if the site goes under, like Comic rank just has.
So what do you guys think? More importantly, what would you guys like to see?

If it were possible to get a dA style Critique system with the ***** rating system for things like art, story arc, setting, characters, etc that would be epic. And something like that I think would do best in or around the comments on the comic itself, linking to a forum to me seems like a somewhat random and unnecessary reason to leave the comic I'm reading.

The Comment Box allows a 5 Star rating system, but that's for the post itself. You can't break it up. I can do it Manually within the layout of the text, or a graphic I could input into the post, I guess.

What, Comic rank went under? I'm tempted to suggest the third party site because it'd look the best. The forum would be nice too, I don't mind reading a longwinded review on another site and it'd be nice to see other's review a comic. The comment strategy feels kind of limiting in the end.

Yup, in September, apparently. Costs etc sent them under. They are now on Hiatus No, seriously, that's their words, not mine...

Jades' comments, and my comments on her comments! So, I've been thinking. Firstly, that I should STOP thinking, because it always means more work for me. Secondly that I should really do some Comic Reviews. I could write them up, score them, and link them in their post on the comic's site using a button. The question is, where should I go about this? I plan to fix it up a little, but there is only so much I can do to make it feel classy. - This Forum is quite restrictive, and kinda not user friendly, so there is that to consider as well. The forum seems OK to me. It's easier to use than some forums I've been on.Second IdeaDo it in the Comments section on the Post Pros- It's right there on the Page. Big plus! - Linking the post gets the review, and vice versa, making it user friendly. - More community friendly and kinda nice. Cons- It wont appear unless you click to read the Comments. - Comment boxes are limited in the amount of Text they can display, and not really the best format to read something if it becomes a long winded review. That's a very good point. Critiquing something can take some space.- Hard to find if you dont know the review is in the commets box, ie you are following a link from another site. Third IdeaThird Party Site. Pros- More circulation means it's more likely to get read. - Solves problems of Professionalism and Layout, as the site could be one designed for the task.Cons- Can be sometimes hard to link to, and I have no control over it, especially if the site goes under, like Comic rank just has. So what do you guys think? More importantly, what would you guys like to see? KitKat said: I think you should use the Comments Section in the posts. I'm disinclined to go elsewhere (even with a convient link) to read a review; especially since the webcomics are free and immediately available, you could click to read the comic yourself in the time it took to get to the review.

Soooo.... I did my first one... I was kind of concerned because I chat with a lot of the artists and think they are all awesome, but reviewing their comics might just upset them a little. Whilst I love them all, folks don't want to hear how AWESOME I think all these comics are, they want a balanced opinion on them, and well... some are just better then others... So. I jumped into the deep end and reviewed Austins Comic What we Remember the Most. Don't hate me!!!! It's a little harsh. Not intentionally, but, well, it's early in the piece, and well, everything in there is my true opinion. Buddy, you picked a tough genre, and I wish you all the best with everything, I truly do. Just keep you the awesome work!

I also Added a Star rating system. It took a while to find one that worked right with my site and didn't crash it, but it's good to go now!

Your revieuw on his webcomic is fine. It's honest, down to earth and constructive.

Just keep you the awesome work!Egh, that picture of pepper representing my comic, blegh, it makes me want to... eck. It's all good, I'm friends with tons of writers, so I give and get plenty of critique regularly. I do definitely agree with many of the things in your review, good and bad. i guess it boils down to the key fact of "improving" for me. i ver much started this with the knowledge that most webcomics improve over time and the biggest deal for me was actually "starting" (being the procrastinator I am, I had to make sure I wouldn't put it of more.) Character development in particular is something I'm very excited for, but also a little frustrated by, considering all the best stuff can't happen until later (Curse you timing!) I definitely realized the troubles of slice of life when making this comic (I also definitely overuse the word "definitely." I need to find a synonym I can remember for that) It was interesting reading this because I definitely (dang it!) chose the genre because of it's difficulties. in a weird, kind of really hard way to explain way, I'm trying to make something where "there isn't really much going on" be enjoyable (i always loved sitcoms, so the whole situational comedy thing really comes from my inspirations.) I won't talk about themes or messages or any of the other pretentious writing stuff I love too much, but rest assured I intend to be all symbolic and crap with that stuff. I guess it's too early to tell right now, but I hope I pull it off. don't worry about you reviews being too mean, if they're like this, then they're the right amount of flattering and constructiveness. Plus, hey it's my first real review other than such eloquently spoken words as "die in a fire furfag" so hooray! another benchmark I can cross off my list!

Yeah I know what you mean about character development! Especially on the run. That is one of the reasons I killed off my own writing project. The story I had planned was EPIC, but I like a slow writing style, so it was a little too slow to be really entertaining. I'll give it another go later, but I will really need the time to go over it and make it a bit faster paced. But hey, you PRODUCING something, which is something a lot of folks never even get around to doing. And it's good! There are very few that can pull this genre off though. One good example is " You say it First" by Isabel and Terrence Marks. The have been doing it for YEARS on a Daily basis no less! It CAN be done, you just need to plan A LOT, and persevere!
