ok, so I'm remaking my comics banner to something more visually appealing and I'm running into a hitch when it comes to thinking up ideas. I just can't fit anything into that little banner space, so I was wondering if I could some basic ideas or leads on where the heck to even start drawing.

Wow, I just did a quick run around a bunch of Smackjeeves sites to see if they had bigger banners, and they don't By the looks of it, what others have done is used larger Images and changed up the angle of the Image to fit in what they want. There are some pretty good examples here: www.smackjeeves.com/I've done it myself with some of my Ad's for Project Wonderful Best way if using Photoshop is to make a new image the size you want, open the image you want to use, and drag the imageonto the new image tab at the top of the page whilst still holding the right button down, which will open the new image page, and drop it onto the new image. You will still be able to move the image around to suit until you are happy with it. Also, Play with the Text. It's your branding after all and what makes your site unique. You can either draw up your own, or check out www.blambot.com/index.shtml for some other heading (and Text) fonts. Or you can use the standard Photoshop Fonts in an inventive manner My 2 cents...

You know what, I hope I'm not being too forward, but it may even be worth looking at another host site. Comicpress with Wordpress offers a lot more flexibility with what you can do with your site, and Smackjeeves is REALLY limited. You will have to sort yourself a webhost (unless you own your own server) like Webgator or someone, and that will cost money, so it may be a deal breaker. But if you are going to do something like that, it may be worth doing it now whilst the comic is still young, Just make sure to link you old comic to your new one and ou should be gold!

You're not being forward, it's a good idea. The money thing is an issue, so it may not happen, but it sounds awesome. I do agree that Smackjeeves can be little frustrating, so now I'm conflicted about the whole thing. Do you know if Wordpress can be put in the smackjeeves code?

I'm pretty sure you can't, but it may be worth looking at other comic hosts as well, like The Duck www.drunkduck.com/ or Comic Fury comicfury.com/ for a bit more flexibility. Also, nice job with the new banner ;D

here's a question; does comicpress work with Comic Fury, or for Drunk Duck, or for any free hosting sites I can use? or am I going to have to shell out some money to get access to a better comic layout? (the lack of money being the main delay for me not getting a better layout, and also because comic press looks confusing and makes my head hurt.)

Comic Press is a Wordpress.org template that you need a host for. That means you need either your own server, or host Provider Like godaddy, SiteGround or Sitegator (which is part of the same group as ComicFury, not that that helps...). You WILL have to pay for a Site host, but the program is free. Comic Press is the Bee's knee's. It's a Wordpress.org template, and thats what I use pretty much for all my main sites. It's REALLY good and easy to use, and I know HEAPS about WP, so I can help I use the hosted Version , Wordpress.com, which is massivly restricted when compaired to the Wordpress.org sites (the same, just less options), but unfortunately comic press is available on Wordpress.org only. So, whats all this mean? - You will need to gat a host, can be up to $100 a year, usually less, shop around. - You will need to Download Wordpress.org to your Computer, then upload it on your server. - You will need to apply the Comicpress template to your site. (very easy, click on the one you want, and your done.) - You will need to make it pretty (I can help if you want) - ? - Profit! Easy, really... 5 min before I replyed to this, I just took out a Domain on SiteGround so I can start a new super secret project, and it cost me about $100 including siteguard and a bunch of extra stuff. Wordpress has Akismet, a free siteguard App that is really really good, so you wont need that. Look around at hosting sites and see what you come up with, it'll be worth it! Probably... That's what the Donate button is for!
